Dear Sister

by Karen Maex

Dear Sister,

I wish someone had told me early on in my career that…
…there’s not just 1 choice in life. Follow your own pathway and embrace what comes along

I think the most important decision that determined my academic life has been…
…follow myself and always to be myself. I’m interested in doing what I like to do. Ambition is not the key driver for me. It focusses on what you envision, but das well what you do not have. The best drive is following your interest and enjoy your pathway.

If I had to do it all over again, I would…
…be happy to do it a second time.

For future academia, I wish for…
…independent and curiosity based research and education to stay important as it is the foundation of independent knowledge.

Don’t you ever…
…think that you cannot do it.
