Founding Sisters
Tessa Blanken
Tessa Blanken is a postdoctoral researcher at the Psychological Methods department. In her research, she aims to work on societally relevant research questions, such as the interplay between insomnia and depression – two of the most common mental disorders, and the potential for behavioural interventions in pandemic preparedness. She firmly believes in collaborations and team science and is adamant to promote a supporting environment – starting with the Science Sisters.
Jorien Treur
Jorien Treur is an Associate Professor at the
Psychiatry department of Amsterdam UMC. She combines innovative genetic methods
with epidemiological methods to unravel the mechanisms that underlie
comorbidities in psychiatry. She is active in translating her research findings
to stakeholders via sounding boards and outreach programs, and she is
passionate about creating a more diverse and fair academic system – among
others through the Science Sisters and her work in Amsterdam UMC’s diversity
and inclusivity working group.
